Tiny Tickets for a Big Cause
We all have them. At least those of us who ride BART do. Those pesky little change amounts left on those white and blue striped tickets. Not enough to get you home after work or to the city for shopping, but enough for you to hold on to them. You're in a hurry, you don't have time to add money to them, what to do?
How about donating them to a good cause? Donate those "Tiny Tickets" to La Casa de las Madres! Do not throw them away.
Ten cents to you means a whole lot more to this nonprofit agency.
La Casa has teamed up with the East Bay Community Foundation and BART to collect your unwanted tiny BART tickets and turn them into valuable cash for its nonprofit domestic violence organization and programs.
La Casa needs Tiny Tickets, magnetized or not. La Casa will mail off its collected tickets to BART three times a year, and the transit district will determine a total ticket value. East Bay Community Foundation will then disperse the funds back to La Casa. La Casa joins other local nonprofit agencies, such as Planned Parenthood Golden Gate and Tony La Russa's Animal Rescue Foundation, in this fundraising effort. For more information on the foundation, visit its Web site at www.ebcf.org.
Check your briefcase, your purse. Collect your tickets. Ask your friends, your co-workers, your religious groups, those at your neighborhood cafe. Help spread the word. Every little bit helps!
